Delivery time

Delivery time depends on the requested service(s), the size of the project, and the complexity of statistical analysis requested. If you have tight or specific time restraints, make sure to discuss them with us so we can plan ahead and inform you prior to taking on the project if the timeframe is realistic.

How long does sequencing of samples take?

On average, sequencing of samples takes 1-2 months from when the samples arrive in the lab. However, this depends on the number of samples in our pipeline and the size of the project. Therefore, always ask, if time is restricted.

Data processing and analysis

The type of data processing and analysis performed highly depends on the type of data and questions at hand. Results for microbiome profiling of up to 400 samples profiled using 16S rRNA gene sequencing is usually delivered in about 2-3 weeks from data arrival, depending on the working queue and sample compliance.

Processing of shotgun data or biomarker detection projects will in most cases take longer, and require more time for communication of results.

What determines our quoting price?

Pricing is dependent on the requested service(s) and the size of the dataset.

Bioinformatic analysis, or communication that are in addition to that specified in the accepted quote, can be requested at an hourly rate. Please contact us here for more details.

How does the data transfer work?

Data is securely transferred via a safe FTP (SFTP) connection.

After a private folder is generated on Biomcares server, the clients will receive an email with login information.

Upon login, clients can access all raw data, processed data, figures, tables, and reports belonging to their project. In the “Reports” folder, clients can find a guide to navigate the folder structures and locate the data they need.

If Biomcare is helping with data analysis only, and not performing the sequencing, we ask clients to transfer their raw sequencing data to the “data_raw” folder. Data must be uploaded as demultiplex sequencing data.

Furthermore, clients are asked to upload a file listing the sample IDs of all samples in the project (e.g. a txt, csv, tsv file) and a file with information on used primers (if data contain primers to be removed).

Where are our offices located?

How secure are our data transferred and stored?

Your data is absolutely safe with us.

At Biomcare we are extremely thorough in keeping your data safe, using SFTP for data transfer, private folders for customers and encrypted backup data solutions.

What if my data is not demultiplexed?

If you don’t have the option to demultiplex your data prior to transfer, please discuss this with Biomcare staff upon making the sales agreement, and upload the necessary multiplexing information to the Biomcare server.
